It’s your chance to explore all things to do with Antarctica when you join us at Antarctic Air Day.
On the tarmac, see the US Air Force C-17 Globemaster before it begins the airlift taking people and cargo to McMurdo Station and Scott Base for the summer season. Meet the crews, see displays and learn what it is like to live on the coldest and windiest continent.
Over the road at the International Antarctic Centre, there’s everything from ice sculptors to huskies to live music. Food trucks will be there and a bouncy castle for the kids (weather permitting).
Entry onto the C17 aeroplane is by pre-registration only as numbers are limited, unfortunately entry for the cockpit and rear of the plane have now sold out.
If you miss out on entry onto the C17 you will still be able to view it from the outside, along with a Panther Crash Fire Truck, Hägglunds and a Massey Ferguson on the tarmac.
There will also be discounted entry into the International Antarctic Centre and a once a year opportunity to pay for just a Hägglund ride.
Come along for a fun free and not too freezing day out for all the family.
Parking is $5 and available on Peter Leeming Rd and limited parking at the International Antarctic Centre. Please bring cash for the car parks, all proceeds go to Ronald McDonald House. Disabled parking is available at the International Antarctic Centre.
