NOTICE OF RACE
1 RULES
1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.
1.2 The Yachting New Zealand Safety Regulations Part 1 shall apply.
1.3 Appendix T, Arbitration, will apply.
1.4 Appendix P may apply.
3 ADVERTISING
Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority.
4 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
4.1 The Regatta is open to all boats of the Starling Class.
4.2 Eligible boats may enter by completing the attached form and sending it, together with the required fee of to
Naval Point Club Lyttelton PO Box 19733, Woolston, Christchurch 8241 or email to onwater@navalpoint.co.nz with payment to BNZ A/c 02 0864 0080191 00 Reference Sail Number, by
0930 Saturday 7 April 2018.
4.3 To be eligible to compete in this event each competitor shall be a financial member of a club recognised by the competitor’s national authority.
5 SCHEDULE
5.1 Registration Briefing

Time of first warning signal 1055hrs Sunday 8 April Time of first warning signal 1055hrs
5.2 Registration and Briefing will be held at the Naval Point Club Lyttelton.
5.3 A total of 6 races are scheduled.
5.5 On Sunday 8 April no warning signal will be made after 1500hrs
6 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
The sailing instructions will be available at registration.

7 VENUE
7.1 Attachment A shows the location of the regatta venue
7.2 Attachment B shows the location of the racing area.
8 THE COURSES
The courses to be sailed will be trapezoid.

SCORING
Three races are required to be completed to constitute a series.
(a) When fewer than four races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race
scores.
(b) When from four to six races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores
excluding her worst score.
SUPPORT BOATS
Support boats must be registered with the Organising Authority at registration.
Support Boats shall keep at least 100 metres from the race area while boats are racing.
There will be a support boat driver briefing for all support boat drivers and crew at 0945hrs Saturday 7 April.
LAUNCHING
Unless otherwise directed by the Organising Authority, all competing boats and equipment shall be launched and retrieved from the Naval Point Club slipway.
RADIO COMMUNICATION
Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones
PRIZES
Prizes will be given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd on line honours.
DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. It is the responsibility of each sailors, and where applicable the nominated responsible adult to decide to participate in a race o to continue racing. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
