Learn to ride from Otahuna Horse Riding, where students learn to connect with and understand their horse.
Otahuna operates under a philosophy of natural horsemanship, and teaches guests to connect with their horse. The techniques taught will maximise cooperation and trust between the horse and rider, and results in a fulfilling relationship with the animal.
Otahuna Horse Riding is based in Christchurch and makes use of the area’s hills and valleys for a memorable ride. Depending on skill level and weather, rides can traverse forests or grassland in the Port Hills, the Otahuna Valley or Otahuna Downs and Governor’s Bay.
There are a number of courses on offer, for students of all abilities. Lessons and clinics are held throughout the year, and children’s programmes are available through the six month-long Saddle Club. There is also a course designed for parents who wish to be able to engage with their child’s passion for horses.
Two Hour Session: $ 110, Three Hour Session: $ 130, All day rides: $240.
