Full Day Godley Head & Coastal Port Hills Tour
The tour starts in Christchurch, driving through New Zealand's second-longest road tunnel to Lyttelton, a historic port town linked to Antarctic exploration. After some free time in Lyttelton, the journey continues over Evans Pass with panoramic views.
At Sumner Beach, enjoy a relaxed morning tea stop. The tour then proceeds to Taylors Mistake Beach to begin an 8 km guided loop walk around Godley Head. The trail passes cliffs and rocky shorelines where rare White-flippered penguins may be spotted, weather permitting.
Lunch is served at Boulder Bay or Godley Head, followed by an exploration of World War II coastal defence sites. The return walk includes stories about New Zealand’s WWII military history, ending with a drive back to Christchurch.

Half-Day Godley Head Walk (Lyttelton Route via Evans Pass)
This half-day tour departs Christchurch heading directly to Lyttelton, then ascends Evans Pass and Summit Road with views over the Port Hills and coastline. The guided walk starts at Godley Head Car Park after morning or afternoon tea.
The 3-5 km loop track passes significant WWII defence remnants and the restored Scott’s Hut site, with views over Lyttelton Harbour. The tour concludes with a return drive to Christchurch or Lyttelton.
