Description

Board the Christchurch Gondola cable car to enjoy 360-degree views over the Canterbury Plains, Southern Alps, city, and harbor as you ascend Mount Cavendish to 445 meters above sea level.

At the summit, visit the Discovery Ride, a historical exhibition of the region, and relax at the Red Rock Café before exploring the nature trails by foot or bike.

The city sightseeing tram provides a 50-minute loop with 18 stops, allowing unlimited hop-on-hop-off flexibility. Key stops include Riverside Market, Christchurch Botanic Gardens, Cathedral Junction, and the Canterbury Museum.

Please note, attractions can be very busy from November to March, especially during cruise ship visits, which may cause waiting times.

Transport to the Gondola is not included and must be arranged separately. Public bus #8 from the city center or a seasonal Gondola shuttle service (summer months only) are available.

Arrival time is flexible; you may visit any time during operating hours.

• The Gondola is a 15-minute drive from the city center or 10 minutes from Lyttelton Port
• Trams operate every 15 minutes with up to five trams running, depending on the season
• The tram does not transport passengers to the Gondola; take public bus #8 from the city interchange or the Gondola shuttle in summer (additional cost applies)
• Free parking is available at the Gondola; paid parking is available in the city center
• Only some trams are wheelchair accessible from Cathedral Junction; wheelchairs must be no wider than 60cm and no longer than 1m to fit on the Gondola
• The 10am arrival time referenced is automated; visitors may arrive any time during opening hours
