Godley Head offers a coastal walking experience with dramatic sea cliffs, expansive Pacific Ocean views, and rich historical sites, including WWII defenses and Antarctic heritage. This walk traces the rim of the ancient volcano that shaped Banks Peninsula.
Choose either a half-day or full-day guided experience with departures from Christchurch or Lyttelton Port depending on your tour choice. The guided walks are suitable for all paces, featuring an easy to moderate coastal trail of 4 km for half-day or 9 km for full-day options.
Your local guide will share stories about Christchurch’s volcanic origins, local wildlife, and history, enhancing your understanding of the area. Full-day tours begin in Sumner with a complimentary hot drink before continuing to the trail.
Half-day tours include light refreshments, while full-day tours provide a gourmet picnic lunch at Boulder Bay, a secluded beach only accessible on foot. The trail features native birdlife and sweeping coastal scenery throughout.
