Russley Golf Club
The club is open to locals and visitors alike, and offers five sets of tees to challenge players of all ages and abilities. It is very conveniently located close to Christchurch Airport.
Expert tuition is available from dedicated PGA professionals for both beginners and experienced players. Instruction takes place on first class facilities in specific areas for each part of the game.
The Russley golf complex includes a high quality practice range, putting and chipping greens, women’s and men’s changing rooms, and a well-stocked golf shop. Rental clubs are available.
After your game you can relax at Number 19, the well-appointed café and bar. Newcomers are always welcomed and can join an introductory program. Long-term members often choose Russley above other clubs because of the warm, welcoming atmosphere, great conversation and opportunity to meet new people.
Russley has hosted many prestigious tournaments and visitors over the years. In the 1960s and 70s the Wills Masters and Garden City Classic professional tournaments were hosted at Russley on 12 occasions. Players including Peter Thomson, Kel Nagle and Bob Charles were regular competitors. Other famous names who played Russley at that time were the three Toms, Watson, Weiskopf and Kite. In 1985 the NZ Open was held at Russley, won by Corey Pavin and in 1990 the Women’s World Amateur Team Championships (the Espirito Santo) was hosted here.
Event Facilities:
The clubhouse has two separate purpose-built lounges which are available to host weddings, conferences, seminars or any other such occasion. The Terrace and Fairway lounges are sunny, light and look out over the trees and fairway around the beautifully manicured 18th green and 10th tee. The two rooms together are able to comfortably seat 100 -150 guests.
