Or keep your feet on the ground by wandering around the dozens of exhibits that bring history to life.
The Horizon To Horizon Gallery expertly chronicles the history of the Royal New Zealand Air Force with stories of bravery, courage and a wonderful selection of antiquities and artifacts on display. There are also frequent black and white movie documentaries showing fascinating footage of life in the air force.
There is a comprehensive guided tour available. The Behind The Scenes Tour is for real aviation enthusiasts. See old aircraft being restored to their former glory in the careful hands of skilled artisans. You'll get up close and personal with some truly antique aircraft, and even walk inside the likes of the legendary Bristol Freighter.
At the end of your day, pop into the gift shop and pick up a unique souvenir of your visit - anything from a pilot teddy or model biplane kit, to a RNZAF shoulder patch.
The museum café is the ideal place to relax and take a break during your visit. The café offers a selection of mouth-watering treats, in addition to a blackboard menu. The café is open daily.
