Perched on the summit of Mount John observatory, the Astro Cafe enjoys incredible panoramic views of Lake Tekapo and the stunning landscape of the MacKenzie Basin.

It's a steep and winding drive to the cafe but the journey is worth it to enjoy a coffee in one of the most scenic locations in New Zealand. Visitors to the cafe can enjoy a cup of coffee and a snack either on the outside terrace or inside where the wall to ceiling glass windows showcase the views.

The menu includes a selection of sandwiches, tasty cakes and fresh ham off the bone.
