This spectacular and wild coastline punctuated by peaceful bays is a beautiful contrast of ever changing landscapes making the Banks Peninsula Track probably the most diverse track in New Zealand.
These two self-guided options offer comprehensive route information, highlights not to miss on the journey, hints and tips, plus accommodation along the way. Both routes are the same (35km), and utilise the same accommodation, but it's entirely up to you how fast you want to go.

Compulsory (but free) annual life jacket testing;
Racing will be postponed or abandoned if the race officer considers the weather or river conditions to be dangerous.
At least 2 rescue boats are on the water on race days and the Ashley-Waimak Rescue Lifeboat can be on the scene within minutes if things get out of hand.
