Porters Lodge - Summer Activities
Mountain Biking
Porters caters to mountain bikers of all experience levels with 2.3km of purpose-built mountain bike flow trails. With a vertical climb of 120 metres, the mountain bike trails are wide and smooth, full of berms, rolls, pops and hips.
Bikes can be rented by the hour, half-day and full day and include free helmet hire.
Mountain Bike Shuttles
From close proximity to the lodge, Shuttles operate on the first Sunday of every month (Saturday if the weather looks bad on Sunday). The shuttle drops you at the top of the access road allowing for multiple trail options on the downhill. Starting at 10.00am, the shuttle runs on-demand with 5 and 10-ride cards available to be purchased from the shuttle driver. Private shuttles are also available on request, midweek only. Porters Lodge
At Porters Lodge, guests can enjoy comfortable, bunk-style family accommodation set against a beautiful mountain backdrop. The lodge features a fully licenced bar with the best craft beer selection in Castle Hill, and a restaurant serving freshly cooked hot meals and snacks.

Thursday - Sunday: Lunch 12.00pm - 3.00pm / Dinner 5.00pm - 8.00pm.

Campervans & Motorhomes
Porters Lodge can also host campervans and mobile homes on one of the 4 powered or 10 unpowered sites. Non-powered campsites are only offered in winter. Guests in campervans can use the Lodge's shower & bathroom facilities, WiFi in the Lodge, as well as can visit the Bar and Restaurant for hot meals and drinks. Book a space.
Castle Hill
Castle Hill rocks is renowned as one of the top bouldering areas in the world, with routes catering for all abilities. It's worth a walk around, even if you're not feeling confident enough to climb. The area is of special cultural, spiritual and historical significance to Ngai Tahu who named it Kura Tawhiti (treasure from afar). Make time to explore Cave Stream. Grab a torch, some sturdy shoes to journey through the dramatic underground caves and crystal clear water flowing from the mountains.
