Top Catch Charters offer great days out on the water with an experienced skipper and fisherman, to help you make the most of your catching opportunities.
Sailing on the purpose-built 6.2m Osprey Boat, qualified skipper Malcolm Halstead takes small groups out on the water around the stunning Kaikoura coastline.
Trips leave the recently revamped port of South Bay and include plenty of time on the water. As well as great fishing visitors often also see plenty of bird life including albatross and little blue penguins and may even be lucky enough to see a dolphin.
As well as fishing for perch and blue cod, guests can also help to check the craypots.
Guests simply need to bring a camera and refreshments. Everything else is supplied by Top Catch including rods, hooks and bait. The team will even bait the hooks and remove the fish once caught.
Alongside the standard fishing trips, Top Catch Charters also runs a number of specialised trips including:
Game fishing for Sharks (November to February): Fish for Blue and Mako Sharks. Sharks are photographed and then released.
Ladies trips: Enjoy a relaxed fishing trip with girlfriends and then a glass of bubbles in a sheltered bay, while the Top Catch team prepare the fish.
Take a kid fishing: The perfect trip for families or a group of dads and sons with the chance to learn a new skill or improve your fishing technique.
