Things To Do in Mount Cook

As the largest city in the South Island and affectionately referred to as the 'Garden City, Christchurch is not short on things to do. It's a city packed full of history, greenery and culture. Visitors can take advantage of the many parks, old buildings, galleries and museums, to make the most of any visit here.

When it comes to Christchurch things to do, The Botanic Gardens tops many visitors' lists. The fascinating Air Force Museum and International Antartic Centre are great family attractions while culture vultures will enjoy the galleries around Worcester Boulevard.  Get beyond the city and the adventure really begins with the hiking and climbing opportunities in Arthur's Pass National Park and a huge choice of outdoor pursuits in Mount Cook National Park and Lake Tekapo. Both are within a few hours drive. Head a couple of hours north for whale watching in Kaikoura. For a more relaxed pace, Christchurch and the Canterbury region has a decent selection of golf courses and some lovely wines to sample in the cellar doors of Waipara.  For those short on time and with a decent budget, there are a number of scenic flight operators to whisk you around the natural highlights of the region.
